finally, a girl i can drink with

Monday, January 27, 2025

Today's cause for happiness: my new (old) girl has arrived! This is Olive, an EBL Tea For Two originally released in March 2003, and I adopted her from Amber, aka amberblythelife on Instagram. Amber has quite the collection and posts beautiful, varied, colorful Blythe photos! Olive was given her name by Amber. I'm keeping it because I think it suits this girl really well. It calls to mind her green stock! All of which she came with, in her original box! Most of it's still taped to the cardboard, too, NRFB!!! Amazing!

She's in perfect condition. More than perfect! Not a dang scratch on her, and her hair is lovely!

This box was so fun to open, not only because she was beautifully packed with several additional outfits that Amber sent along with her, but because all these little flowers had been sprinkled amongst the packaging. I wanted to remember that fun detail by taking Olive's first portraits with them.

She was also fun to unbox because I did it with my mom! So I did not film it. I was sort of intending to, but when I picked up the package, my mom asked, "Can I see her?" and I opted for the experience of opening her up with my mom instead.

Tea For Two is my very first EBL (!) and definitely the oldest release in my collection, by many years. (Simply Peppermint is technically the oldest girl I have and she's from 2009, released before Ice Rune who was my first ever Blythe.) I haven't actually seen any of the earliest face molds in person until TODAY! All of my girls are RBLs (or RBL variants) or FBLs! So to me, the difference in appearance is very striking and fascinating. The lashes on this girl are super light and delicate compared to the typical eyelashes we see on later releases. It gives her such a waif-y look! I love it! But very immediately, while taking her picture, I was like, "Wow, I don't know how to photograph this face mold." I'll have to learn!

I have been thinking about getting this particular girl, Tea For Two, for literally years now. I know I've talked to my friend L about it several times! In fact, I found instances of her name in our chat logs as far back as 2021.

As you can see, I decided in favor of other dolls almost every time I had the Blythe Gimmes (TM Lucy)! I bought Zyanya Remembers and Aurella Amphitrite instead -- and of course L was the one who gifted me Shelley Victorian, another girl I had wanted for years!! So when Amber put Olive up for adoption I asked for her right away. I felt like it was finally time to scoop this girl!

And aren't these pics of her from Amber's Instagram super cute??? I love the red-orange on her.

As of right now I have twenty Neo Blythes, and -- wow. That's crazy to me. I never would have imagined it even just a couple of years ago. I had a static collection of thirteen girls for a number of years. My family expanded by a lot in 2023, to nineteen, and I have wondered since if I should cap my Neo collection at twenty. But I must admit, I don't think I will. I am fifteen or so years into enjoying Blythe as a hobby and I still get so much enjoyment out of it. I do get the occasional rash of Blythe Gimmes but for the most part I think I approach the hobby with temperance. Especially since I overwhelmingly favor keeping the dolls I buy long-term.

To end the post: My cat would NOT leave Olive alone and almost every picture I took, he got in. He absolutely had to sit down on this backdrop and sniff her and purr like a chainsaw, no matter how much I kept trying to push him off, shoo him, distract him. Yet he had the nerve to refuse to look at my camera?!

new year, new girl (jail for One Thousand Years)

Monday, January 1, 2024

Happy 2024 and all that, but aaah! The Blythe I bought myself for my Craft Market Success arrived, and she is a BEAUT. She's unique in my collection. A) She's an anniversary doll -- my first! B) She's got translucent skin -- for me, another first! C) She's the first Blythe I've bought that's been produced under the Good Smile Company rather than Takara.

Also, she's so fance~

I of course made an unboxing video, should you like to see!

I have named her Miette... after the cat!

Five Blythes in a single year is a lot, I know... some of the most substantial growth my collection's seen in many years! But this year I've enjoyed Blythe more than I have in the longest time. I always enjoy this hobby in a neutral way, but I did a lot of sewing this year, and therefore bonding with my girls. Besides crochet, which I technically did far more of, I had the most fun with my doll hobby this past year out of all of my many other hobbies.

Right now the dream consists of sewing and crocheting while I hang with the girls (the new girls especially), window shopping for Miette, and working on a dolly dressup video for Zasha.

twin mayors of birthday town

Friday, July 7, 2023

Well, this is wild beyond belief for me to be typing. But I was gifted two dream dolls for my birthday: Lady Panacea and Shelley Victorian. My Neo Blythe family has expanded by four dolls this year. It's been a long time since it's seen that kind of growth, and I am in a state of shock, a bit!!

Of course I filmed my unboxing of them both, if you would like to view it.

I named these girls Vesper (Lady Panacea) and Citron (Shelley Victorian). Currently they're standing on my desk with Zasha and Winny. The new girl gang!!

They both break my heart with their beauty.

Directly after unboxing these girls, I lost power for a full week. (!!!) There was a huge wind storm and the vast majority of my city was without power for multiple days. It was a miserable week, to say the least.

As a result of the outage, I kind of lost out on what is ordinarily a super special time for me as a Blythe collector... those first days after I unbox my new girl, wherein I am bonding with the doll via touching, dressing and undressing, combing out and washing their hair, changing them out of their stock for the first time, shopping especially for them, and other general fussing. It's such a fun time for me. Feeling happy and spoiled and thinking about the dolls' name, their style, how they fit in with my Blythe family.

So that experience was delayed by the power outage. I felt sweaty and grimy and grumpy 24/7 while the power was out, and after the power came back, I was exhausted. I had work to catch up on, Etsy orders to complete and ship. I had to throw out everything in my fridge and get replacement groceries during a time when the store was picked over and swamped (because everybody had to replace their groceries). Et cetera, et cetera!!!

Finally editing my unboxing video afforded me the belated opportunity to get tactile with my new girls, since I wanted to take pictures of them for the video and for this post. My twins, my special purple-eyed gworlies. That time fussing with them was something I needed, emotionally, after such a rough week. I feel doubly blessed, let me tell you!

Nearly two weeks after getting power restored, I'm still recovering from the week without it... or so it feels. I want to dolly-sew and crochet and craft and spend even more time with The New Girls so bad!

Oops, I...

Tuesday, February 14, 2023

Ummm, so... Just a month after welcoming a new girl into the family, I up and adopted another! Meet Winifred aka Winny. She's a Prairie Posie who came to me from Rich, aka bonjourblythe on Instagram.

I fell in love with this girl the second I saw her. For one thing, these bangs she's been given are SO GOOD. SO CUTE. For another, Rich's styling is impeccable. Not just for Winny, but for all his dolls. Please do check out his Insta. But for whatever reason, my heart went bang-bang-boom every time he posted a pic of this girl specifically. I'm not even really active on Instagram anymore, but always loved to see her. Check my comments:

So when Rich put her up for adoption and I missed that reel by a few hours, I flipped and was like, "PLEASE TELL ME SHE'S STILL AVAILABLE!" I'm so fortunate she was!

I haven't really had this experience with falling in love with a very specific Blythe owned by someone else since 2010/2011, when I adopted Drew via Flickr after some hardcore stalking and letting her owner know I would love to adopt her if she ever came up for adoption. Typically I go for NRFB girls. I like to have their stock. I like to unbox them myself. I am just more drawn to that option than any other.

But as I am so many years deep in the hobby now, I think this is less important to me than it once was. Either that or I just bonded with Winny via Rich's pics because they're soooo good!

In an interesting fate-y turn, I have Prairie Posie's stock already!! Have had it for years. Just because that pink floral cottagecore aesthetic is very much up my alley. I have always liked Prairie Posie just fine, but never thought of getting her. Dear Lele Girl has long been my redhead of choice. But these bangs add to Prairie Posie's cute factor by about a squillion. Next to DLG, her hair is so rich and auburn-red, and DLG's more penny-red.

I think we can all agree that Winny's style is not cottagecore! She looks so great styled vintage (both mod and Brady Bunch-ish 70s, imo) that I will endeavor to keep that style up for her! I have a few sleepforever duds that'll suit her, but I look forward to finding a dress just for her, as per my tradition. I think she needs her own beret, too.

I haven't gotten two new dolls in such close succession in many years. I'm a little overwhelmed and verklempt at the same time! Now I have sixteen girls, which is wild. It feels like an evolution.

new girl :)

Sunday, January 15, 2023

So I recently welcomed a new Blythe into my family! I have been wanting another for about a year, but Zyanya Remembers was not the girl I had in the back of my mind! But she caught my attention, and I really liked how she looked out of her stock. (To me, that's more important than stock!)

Welcome, Zasha! This is a very Russian-sounding name for a Mexican girl, but I like it.

Here's her unboxing video, if you like that kind of thing. I do. I make these for myself, so I can relive these special memories whenever I want to.

I've since combed out her hair (I found several knots in it and had to cut them out!) and changed her clothes. Discovered in the process that her arms are very stained.

I must admit this is disappointing! I know she has been in a box in black clothing for almost two years. They put this little white bralette/crop top situation on her, I imagine to help protect her from her own dress? But they ought to have wrapped her arms in plastic, in my opinion. I know I've seen girls with wrapped limbs in my day. Vinter Arden came with thin netted tights to put on beneath her navy blue stock tights to help with staining. Some similar netted shirt could have been created for Zyanya.

If I'm honest, while this clearly sucks, I'm also too tired out by... you know, everything that is Real Life... to be heartbroken by this. It's of course very annoying Blythes are so expensive and yet come with knotted hair and stained bodies. (And we'll still buy 'em!) But Zasha's wanted and welcome here, bruised or no. It can be one of her quirks. In time the stains might fade, or they might be a permanent feature.

And to end on a positive note, LOOK AT HER ORANGE EYE in that pic. I love orange chips, and these are arresting on her! Should I change out her pink and blue chips? I think I might...

If you wanna be my Sporty Lover Finesse, you gotta get with my friends.

Monday, November 9, 2020

Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I bought a Blythe!! It's been five years since I bought my last girl.

Meet Olwenn. She's a Sporty Lover Finesse (which is the funniest Blythe name to me). She's my first Radiance Renew girl. She's got Vinter Arden-esque peachy hair and lovely gray chips. I don't quite know her personality yet. "Olwenn" is welsh and it apparently means "white footprint," which I thought fitting, as her stock outfit includes white sneakers.

Truly, I know not what came over me. I have thirteen Neo Blythes already, and they've been a family for these last many years. Also, you might say, "Jane, do you not already own Vinter Arden, a girl with peachy hair and gray eyes?"

Yes, imaginary voice of dissent. I do. But VA is an FBL and has very minimal makeup. SLF is an RBL and has much more vivid makeup, which to me changes the look quite a lot! And anyway, let me live!

I filmed her unboxing, if you like that kind of thing.

I picked the weirdest time to dip my toe back into the Blythe hobby. Economy, et cetera. It does feel ridiculous to indulge in what is an expensive hobby. (I forgot just how expensive!) But also, since everyone is always home now, I am very self-conscious about taking pictures. This is one of the main ways I enjoy my Blythes, so I feel stifled. I have to just do it and let people be curious and comment. But that is hard for me and I hate it, haha. I have some stuff to throw up on my Etsy, if I can just make myself take pictures.

Anyway, I must window-shop for Olwenn! I had a tradition of getting each of my girls their very own dress that suits them the best, and I don't want to break tradition now!

"I'd turn back if I were you."

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Look at this girl! Yes, yes, I got a new Blythe! If you follow me on Flickr or social media, you already know! I actually received her in the mail on the 16th, but I sort of sat in private with her for the most part these past couple of weeks.

She's my first true brunette Blythe and my first RBL+. Actually, the first RBL I've gotten in general since Lamb! I somehow got accustomed to seeing FBL faces peering up at me from boxes, so when I opened her, I was suddenly nervous!

I filmed a deboxing video if you'd like to watch it.

Spoiler alert: one of her socks won't even go on her foot.

However, that bizarre random issue aside, now that I've hung out with her for a while, changed her out of her stock, and settled on a name (which took a while), I'm chuffed to have her.

Her name is Wisp, because so far, my Didee Eureka experience has come with a ton of rainbows: she's Wizard of Oz inspired which automatically comes with rainbow associations; a double rainbow appeared over my house -- which I have never seen outside of that one YouTube video; and then everything on the internet seemed to be overtaken by rainbows due to gay marriage being declared legal everywhere in the U.S.! (Hooray!!! It cannot be overstated how crucial equality is!) I felt like the universe was showing me rainbows all over the place.

However, I didn't want to just name her "Rainbow," not just because I sort of was leaning towards something with a W (like Winnie or Wendla) but because I once read a book about a girl absorbed into a hippie cult where they renamed her that. Also, I associate that as a name with Rainbow Brite. I love me some Rainbow Brite. I can still sing the theme song and also the opening number from Star Stealer. But Rainbow Brite's original name was Wisp, and when that clicked, I was like, "Okay! I hear you, universe!"

Leopard Sass!

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

The final addition to my Blythe family for a while (... I mean, probably) is Leopard Sass, an FBL with this lovely wheaty-goldy hair and sweet brown chips.

You guys, I can no longer hide my crazy bias for FBLs. I just love FBLs! Every single official release I got this year was an FBL -- Wendy Weekender, Simply Bubble Boom, and now Leopard Sass!

I did a deboxing video, as I often do.

Because I'm an oddball, I always leave new dolls in their stock for a few days before changing them. I can be quite nervous about changing them into other clothes. I'm really very happy with her but even moreso now that she's out of her stock and those dumb red tights and silly-ass hat™. I think she blends into my family beautifully.

I still need to give her a little hair treatment to see if that will improve the state of her curls at all. Curly-haired Blythes' tresses can be quite hard to tame.

Sweetheart! Sweetheart!

I want to take an FBL family portrait!

Kickin' off 2015 with a Blythe haul!

Saturday, January 3, 2015

Happy New Year, errybody!

I've been trying to keep after the post-Christmas mess that always inevitably appears at this time of year. So much packaging and new stuff!

I filmed a "haul" video for my YouTube channel of the Blythe stuff I've picked up the past couple of months...

One of the things I'm most excited about is the Ikea Huset furniture set! (I got two!! I have plans!)

I'm also pretty pleased about the last thing, which... may or may not be FBL in nature.

Anyway, I don't really make New Year's resolutions, but I absolutely need to do some purging and cleaning this month! I tossed some old holey clothes and worn out shoes, have bags of miscellaneous stuff to give to Goodwill. I have made a to-do list on HabitRPG that consists of the cleaning chores I want done and am trying to do one per day at the very least. (I absolutely don't mind doing laundry, but hate putting clean laundry away so much... what is up with that??)

Out with the old, in with the new! Yes!!

bubble bubble bubble pop

Friday, October 24, 2014

Highlight of my October: I got a Simply Bubble Boom!

(Yes, of course I hear Bubble Pop in my head.)

Bubble Boom has been the one Blythe on my list of wants that I wanted to definitely get someday, but never seemed to be able to catch her on eBay at the right time, and have been like, "Maybe I can find her used, or something..."  But thanks to one of my clients really dragging out the work I was doing for him and giving me a bonus entirely because of this (literally! He said, "I'm going to sweeten the pot and give you some more money.  I've been such a pain"), I had a bit of extra dough kicking around and thought, "Bubble Boom!!!" So long, guy, and thanks for the Blythe!

I deboxed her for my YouTube channel (which is still getting lots of subscribers... when I last mentioned it, it had 86, and as of this post, it has 155).

I cherish having these deboxing videos, actually. I do like to do them because they are easy to edit and upload, but they are really for me, so I can remember the moments of first laying eyes on them, holding them, touching their hair... I can document all my initial thoughts. Deboxings are part of the bonding process for me, and something I cannot rush through.

Simply Bubble Boom is breathtaking. Like, I'm over the moon! Her hair is perfect! She's from 2010, around the same time as Very Vicky, but she has none of the hair issues that so plagued my pair of FBLs that I got that year (VV and Vinter Arden). Like, she has the best hair of any Blythe I've gotten since Dear Lele Girl. There's not a strand out of place. It's soft. There's zero tangles or snags. Her fringe is super straight. It looks so good.

And I love her little FBL faaaaace!

As I say in my deboxing video, I don't care for her stock particularly, and she may never wear it again after I change her, but these skates and the way they fit on her are way cuter than I expected.

Four Blythes is the most I've expanded my collection by since the first year I was into Blythe. It's acutally a lot for one year, for me, and I am beginning to run out of room where I prefer to display them. I'm not sure whether to consider downsizing or not...

Unexpected Blythe family addition...

Monday, September 8, 2014

Okay, Blythe update, you guys. There's a new kid on the block.

In late August I adopted this cuuute golden-tressed TBL from BirdinaNest via Blythe Kingdom! Her name is Soleil -- that's the name her previous owner gave her, and it is perfect for her, so I have no desire to change it! She's another unique doll in my collection, at least in terms of my typical dolly tastes.

Man, I was not in the market at all for another girl. (Now and again I look on BK for a Bubble Boom... someday, Bubble Boom!!) I'm very content with my family and I actually don't even have room for this girl, where I currently display my collection. But when I saw her, I was like, "She is for me, yes?" I love blonde Blythes. I really like my other factory girl. Best of all, she was a great price -- honestly, if I had seen her on eBay, I wouldn't have paid even the comparatively low price of $90 for Another Blonde Blythe, even if I liked her. But I adopted her for significantly cheaper from a cool person within the U.S., and the transaction was great.

She came with a bit of a surprise.

Yellow chips with skulls in the pupils!! Soleil is a goddess of doom!

I'm considering giving her an edgy haircut to reflect her obvious badassery. As with Clarke, I have to find her a stand. Really, I have to decide if I want to change up my Blythe display, since the desk where I keep my dolls is essentially out of room!

Factory Girl's here!

Thursday, April 3, 2014

And what a pretty thing she is! I'm in love. Her hair is bubblegum pink, very long, and in wonderful condition. The front-facing blue chips and side-facing brown chips that were the extra incentive to snag her are lovely; she also has pink and purple chips.

I have no other girl like her! I tend to be attracted to more natural makeup on Blythes (my big weakness is blushy cheeks), so literally none of my other girls have the classic Blythe bright, defined, deep lip color. Her skin is actually very pale and striking; you can better see her paleness in comparison to my other girls.

Her stand, ordered separately, hasn't arrived yet, so she's just chilling.

So lovely. I'm very pleased!

Factory Girl

Friday, March 28, 2014

Yo, is it cool if I admit I got a factory girl??

I know they are somewhat controversial, as they're illicit hybrids cobbled together from parts that are perhaps leftovers, prototypes, or just not up to snuff. It's theorized these parts are taken, perhaps by factory workers, assembled, and sold on eBay without any kind of permission from Takara.

edit: She's actually a TBL, or Taobao Blythe!

Personally, I've had more and more experiences with a decline in quality from official releases -- terribly tangled, knotted, matted, greasy hair, super wonky fringe, clear lines left on the legs from the molds, increasingly cheap stock. Many new releases have required extensive fixing. This is crazy to me because Blythes are so expensive! I don't expect to pay so much money for something that arrives having to be fixed to the extent some of my girls were, or for stock I don't even want to use because it's so cheap-feeling. So I don't feel terribly bad for purchasing a nude, imperfect doll Frankensteined from unused pieces on the sly for half the price of a new (and also likely to be jacked up) release.

I just completely couldn't resist this combination of nearly perfect shade of pink hair, Dear LeLe Girl-style lashes, rosy lips, and these pretty eye colors. (She also has pink and purple chips.)

I've endlessly waited for a pink-haired girl whose shade of pink is not too blue, too hot, or too bright and neon, and I don't know if I'll ever see an official release with the perfect pink. I've always thought she may have to be a custom. I like very red pinks and very soft pinks. If her hair looks like this in person, I'll be so happy! She feels very "me," and I'm very willing to supply her with the things she lacks, like a stand and a pull ring!

Windy Weekender

Friday, February 21, 2014

No, that's not a typo! When I took my new Wendy Weekender (she still doesn't have a name!!) out for pictures the other day, dressed in a pretty floaty dress with stars printed on it and a flower crown I made with some faux autumn foliage, the wind kept knocking her over!

If you watched my deboxing video, you will know that for whatever reason, my WW's body is really loose; if you hold her by the legs, the weight of her head will get the best of them and she'll do a back-bend! In my experience Blythes topple easily enough anyway, but this girl was no match for the wind.

Her name is taking a while to come to me. She seems like a girl who will have an interesting object-type name (more like Lamb or Mallow than Drew or Klara).

I gently combed out her curls, so her hair is very puffy now. I'll be giving her (and possibly one or two other girls) a hair treatment soon.

Wendy Wednesday

Wednesday, February 12, 2014

Hey! My Wendy Weekender arrived! As I've done a couple of times before, I deboxed her with my camera handy.

The video is 15 minutes long, but the last couple of minutes is dedicated to showing each of my Blythes in their line-up on my desk. This is my 10th Neo Blythe! It's kind of surreal.

My desk is a disaster area almost always, but the past couple of days, it's because I've been making more Blythe-size flower crowns...!

I am not sure what I'm going to name my WW; sometimes names just come to me pretty instantly (Gavin being, oddly, the quickest), but sometimes girls take a while to name (I believe my Vinter Arden, Klara, was nameless for days). I love her sweet blushy coloring! But it's hard to look past her bright stock to see what she'll feel like without it. I like to leave my girls in their stock for a few days before changing them into something else. I can get very nervous about how to dress them. All that is part of the "bonding" process for me.

weekend at Wendy's

Thursday, February 6, 2014

I think when you repeatedly look up a specific doll on eBay/Flickr over a period of several months and then someone says, "I'll pay you for this website work," it may be a nudge from the universe to go for it. Although I was gifted a Blythe in January 2013, I haven't bought one since mid-2012, so I was really feeling the bug.

I love FBLs! I'm not sure why they are less popular than RBLs.

This is another doll whose stock I don't care for at all -- well, except for the shades -- but when in other outfits, I find her very sweet and irresistible! I love the combination of her bright hair and front-facing brown chips. She especially looks wonderful with a bob and a faceup... which makes me think... but I'm not making any advance decisions. Most of my dolls are stock (much of the time I do change eye chips, but leave them untouched otherwise, shine and all). This girl seems like she'd look great with a Licca body, though.

I hope her hair is not too similar to Simply Peppermint's! It looks blue to me, but Takara calls it mint green, and depending on the coloring Flickr users apply to her, it can look very blue or green-blue.

I'm really getting back in Blythe mode lately!

University of WHAT

Friday, January 11, 2013

Today I decided to get all eight of my Neo-sized Blythes down from their shelf and re-dress them all!  (Middie Bonnet just watched with her head titled.) I had just done a bunch of work and was listening to music and unwinding and having a grand ol' time.

I had only a couple of them dressed when my mom asked me if I'd like to run out for coffee and a snack with her. So I left my girls on my bed and put my good ol' fox hat on.

When we opened the front door to leave, there was a package on the doorstep. I assumed it was for my sister and picked it up without thinking, then said as it occurred to me, "This is the size of a Blythe box." You know how you can definitely identify the box by size and weight after enough de-boxings? I just knew it was a Blythe box. I stared at my mother, wondering: Did I buy a Blythe and manage to forget? What have I done? Why did I do that? I'm so broke right now! I told her urgently, "I didn't buy a Blythe!" However, it was from Hong Kong and I felt really sure about the feel of the package. I was kind of on the verge of a panic attack about my finances and selective memory loss before I noticed it was addressed to my nickname rather than my billing name, which is a sure sign that a friend has sent me something.

We opened it and inside was University of Love.

"I bet you anything this is from L," I said. A couple of years ago I bought one of my best friends, L, her first Blythe. She had taken an interest in them after seeing mine and I was happy to have a friend I could talk doll shop with, so I bought her Cassiopeia Spice, and I loved being able to do that. I got some emotional deja vu from the surprise factor of it all and from the full circle moment feeling. "L knows exactly what I like."

"Isn't she a doll?" my mom asked.  "A doll who sends dolls!"

By the time I got back to my girls, I was carrying this box with a brand new girl in it and took a picture because I thought it was so strange that I was literally in a pile of Blythes already.

I have to say, I am really gobsmacked. L had told me my Christmas present was on its way but I blanked so hard until I saw my nickname on the box! I literally thought, "Oh my God, I bought her and blocked it out, didn't I??"

This gorgeous creature has fluffy, immensely curly hair (which badly needs a treatment, as per usual, but is happily knot-free) and interestingly has the same low gaze on her pink set of front-facing chips that Coco Collette does. I am so intimidated by her glamorous Gossip Girl-ian feel. It's crazy how different and unique every Blythe feels in person.

I wonder what her name will be? I wonder what kind of gal she is?? I'm so surprised I'm struck dumb and am staring at her respectfully from a distance! Never did I dream my day would go this way.

Mallow Sweet

Friday, August 3, 2012

My cute pink-haired girl arrived and I am pretty pleased with her! Her hair is a light and cool pink, but still pinkier than it looks in most pictures I've seen of her (including these). It just really reflects light!

Her complexion is very pinky and happy. When she is standing next to my Vinter Arden, Klara, she really makes Klara look super-pale!

I hear many Coco Collettes have come from the factory with some wonk in their eye mechs, and this is true for mine as well. (My friend L also bought Coco and has the exact same quirks mine does.) I've seen at least one Coco with a really crooked mech, but my girl's looks normal until you flip to her pink set, which has a marked downwards gaze. It also becomes harder to pull her string and flip her eyes from the pink set. Weird!! I haven't opened her up to investigate but this seems strange to me!

However, I still really like her! She fits right into my family perfectly. I'll take more pictures of her once her box hair calms and/or I give her a little hair treatment. Her fringe is really staticy right now! My girl has thin, light, and fluffy hair and a very airy feel, so I have named her Mallow. I can't wait to pick out a couple new sets of eye chips for her!

Merry early Christmas to me!

My sweet Middie got here today!!! I decided to de-box her on camera so here's a 13-ish minute reactionary video.

I really, really like her already! Middies are just utterly their own creatures, but they are extremely cute! It keeps striking me just how different she is even though she's technically a Blythe.

I'm waiting to see what her name is...

facepalm

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Okay, I relent to you, strange Middie desires! I had this girl open in an eBay tab for a week before biting the bullet. She was on cheapy-cheap sale, comparatively speaking, and I had a spike of Etsy sales these past couple of weeks -- is it holiday shopping time, or what??

Eee, I'm weirdly nervous!
