I had a nice, chill birthday! I bought that rotary cutter set I linked in my last post and it's a game-changer for me. Sewing clips have saved me already.
I'm still hyperfixated on sewing (😅) but I wanted to divert course momentarily to post a compendium of some of my favorite outfits I've worn in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Which I'm still playing! Not with 100% regularity, but in months-long bursts with breaks in between. I'm actually a year behind in the game, so it's August 2021 on my island. I don't know about y'all, but the way so many people had virtually complete islands decorated to the max with all the hard-to-attain items just two weeks after the game was released actually killed my own motivation and desire to play. So I didn't for months at a time, between smaller periods of energy/inspiration. Thus I got quite behind. But I got back into it again during the fall/winter, and I got very into adding to my Amiibo card collection, and got into screenshotting my dressups every day.
So: some ACNH drip! I named each fit.
This dressup screenshotting tendency of mine is likely brought to you by how much I still, to this day, miss Poupeegirl. (Of course there's Bentewee and also there was the Dolly Collection app. I did both for a few months, but it's not the same experience as Poupeegirl, imo.) I think Poupeegirl heavily influenced the way I dress my Blythes. I even mentioned it as an influence here several years back.
Must say my favorite dressup items in ACNH include the berry beret, the mustard pleather ankle booties, the lavender glasses (both round and hexagon frames), the ballet shoes (any color), and the basket purse. My island rep's almost always in double braids.
All right, I'm off to do more sewing.
Oh, what a burst of serotonin this just gave me! These outfits are just beautifully put together and perfectly named! (Miss Freakin' Marple Over Here--dying!) I haven't been playing ACNH in awhile but I do miss it. I got into Sim City (yes, from almost 10 years ago, lol) lately when John Hodgman was streaming it during max fun drive, but I can feel that I'm just about ready for a new game. I saw something called Wytchwood which has a really neat look, but I'm not sure if the game itself is for me or not.
ReplyDeleteI also felt that same sort of feeling when people were collecting stuff at hyperspeed right out of the gate with ACNH. And like, I get it, everyone hyperfocuses in their own way, but part of the joy of Animal Crossing for me is letting things happen slowly. There were a couple of summer fish and bugs I never got - I should log back on!
Ooh, I haven't played Sim City, but I have played a ton of Banished, which seems kind of similar in some ways! Like a building/resource management/town sim game! So fun. And speaking of sims, I've played a lot of Sims 2 and Sims 4...
DeleteI'm the same re: Animal Crossing! I believe I expressed to you in a letter that I felt like I had bad luck with items and stuff on my island. It took me SOOOO long to collect what I have. And my island is only like 40% developed, haha. I can't play at night whenever scorpions are in season because I have an intense phobia of them, so I've just accepted I'll never get star fragments from half the months of the year, et cetera, so some items will be forever out of my reach, and that's okay!
PS: Visiting your island was so much fun! I still have screencaps from my visit and the teddy bear picnic setup you had never fails to delight!
DeleteOh, that's awesome! :D I need to make a point of returning to ACNH soon! I think I have a bunch of hoarded star bits I'd be happy to give you!
